Hello
Filmmaker and Photographer
Jared Tatz is a filmmaker and photographer in North Central Philadelphia. He is a Photo Editor for The Temple News where he works on his craft as a photographer and a writer. He is also a freelance photographer for event and portrait photography. He spends his free time working on film photography. When it comes to filmmaking he has been passionate about this medium as a way of storytelling since he was 10 years old when he would make videos with his friends. Now he works on films in a variety of roles including directing, production design, cinematography, editing, and writing.
As an artist my goal is to tell stories. If I could do anything with my life it would be just that. I will tell stories in any and all mediums I have access to. Art is about collaboration and working in a variety of mediums allows for me to work with so many different artists. I have so many talented friends and colleagues who all have their own passions. My dream as an artist is to create a space where we can all thrive and collaborate. Talent is something that thrives in conversation with more talent. I’m focused on film because of its importance on collaboration. I want to tell a variety of stories with film from experimental to narrative to documentary. I will see the whole world telling as many stories about people I would have never dreamed to meet. I will make experimental films that challenge our own ideas in a way that warrants self reflection. I will make narratives that rival the greats. Humor has always been extremely important to me and it's something I will continue to implement in my work. Comedy is a genre that I want to take extremely seriously. When it comes to photography it's been something I’ve done my whole life and never fully understood it until recently. Capturing a moment is one of the most beautiful feelings and editing it truly makes the moment captured. Photography is about memory and therefore I will never stop capturing memories.
